Srinagar: An Indian Army soldier is reported missing and possibly abducted during a joint military and police cordon and search operation in the Islamabad district of Kashmir last night.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the soldier, a member of the Territorial Army, was involved in an operation in the Kazwan forest area of Kokernag in South Kashmir. The operation included teams from the Army, police, and other security agencies.

The Army’s official statement on the social media platform X confirmed that the search continued overnight after the soldier’s disappearance was noted. Authorities are treating the incident as a potential abduction case occurring amidst the operation. “A massive rescue and search operation is currently underway,” stated the Army, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
