Jammu: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army was killed in an attack in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The incident has raised security concerns in the region, prompting a heightened military response.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the attack occurred in the Keri-Battal area of Akhnoor. The officer who lost his life has been identified as JCO Kuldeep Chand.
Indian officials reported that an Army patrol came under attack in the region. The troops retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the incident, JCO Kuldeep Chand was critically injured.
Officials stated that the injured officer was immediately airlifted to a hospital for urgent medical treatment. Despite efforts, the JCO succumbed to his injuries.
In response to the attack, Indian troops cordoned off the area. A search operation involving reinforcements was underway as of the latest reports, reflecting the ongoing security efforts in the region.
