According to Kashmir Media Service, the woman officer alleges that the accused army officer, who had promised to marry her, engaged in extra-marital relations and later blackmailed her with a video. She has also accused the officer and his mother of demanding a dowry of Rs 80 lakh.
ACP (Cantt) Atul Anjan Tripathi confirmed that an FIR was lodged against the accused and his mother, citing charges of criminal intimidation and insulting the modesty of a woman. The investigation into the matter is underway.
In her complaint, the woman officer stated that she met the accused during her posting in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where he subsequently proposed to her. This case adds to the growing concerns regarding the conduct of Indian army personnel, following several incidents of malpractice, bribery, financial embezzlement, sexual harassment, and involvement in sex scandals that have recently come to light, tarnishing the reputation of the Indian Army.
This incident is particularly significant in the context of past allegations against high-ranking officials in the Indian Army, including the case of Lieutenant General A K Nanda, who was compelled to resign following accusations of sexual misconduct.
