Indian army man commits suicide in occupied Kashmir

Jammu, An Indian Army man committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Udhampur district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian army’s Naik Harish Chandra Singh (38), shot himself with his service rifle inside 31- RR Army camp of the district.

After his colleagues heard the sound of gunshot, they immediately rushed to the spot and saw him lying in a pool of blood. They immediately informed the senior officers of the unit.

After getting the information, the senior officers of the unit reached the spot and evacuated him to Command Hospital, Udhampur, where he was declared dead.

Later, the body of the deceased was brought to District Hospital, Udhampur, for autopsy.

Cause of provocation behind the extreme step could not be ascertained, said SHO of Udhampur, Raghuvir Singh.

This incident raised the number of such deaths among the Indian troops and police personnel in the occupied territory to 587 since January 2007.
