Indian Army Introduces Black Hornet Nano Drone for Surveillance

Srinagar: In a move that underscores its surveillance capabilities, the Indian Army has introduced the Black Hornet Nano drone to its arsenal.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the unveiling took place during the 9th Veterans Day event at the Tanda Artillery Division in Akhnoor, Jammu. The drone, weighing a mere 18 grams and measuring 16 cm in length and 2.5 cm in width, is among the smallest in military use today.

The Black Hornet Nano’s compact design and quiet operation allow it to conduct covert intelligence gathering. It is equipped with dual cameras and can maneuver through tight spaces to transmit vital surveillance footage.

Designed for rapid deployment, the drone can be carried in a soldier’s utility belt and requires minimal training for operation. Developed by Norway’s Prox Dynamics AS, the Black Hornet Nano has been adopted by multiple countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and India.

The introduction of this technology is seen as indicative of India’s strategic intentions in the region, particularly concerning Azad Kashmir and Pakistan.
