Indian Army Intensifies Operations in Jammu Against Pro-Freedom Activists

Jammu: In a significant escalation of military operations, the Indian Army has redeployed troops, including over 500 Special Forces operatives, across the Jammu region to target pro-freedom activists. This move aims to suppress the activities of those advocating for the right to self-determination, recognized by the United Nations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the deployment involves more than ten battalions strategically positioned in the forested and mountainous areas south of the Pir Panjal range, including districts like Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Doda, Kathua, and Samba. The military’s strategy includes conducting intensive search operations to dismantle the networks of activists demanding a plebiscite.

Officials have also enhanced the human intelligence network, adding new police personnel to the existing forces. The operational capacity of paramilitary units has been increased, supported by the deployment of new armored and mine-protected vehicles. These measures are part of a broader crackdown involving cordon and search operations and house raids, during which many local youths have been arrested and labeled as sympathizers or over-ground workers of the pro-freedom movement.

The recent review of operations by senior Indian Army leadership has resulted in directives for a more aggressive stance against individuals pushing for a plebiscite and the broader freedom struggle in the region.
