New Delhi, September 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): A part of its attempts to maintain the hegemony in the region, the Indian Air Force will acquire twelve new Sukhoi-30 MKI jets at a cost of eleven thousand crores from Russia.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), the apex decision-making body of the Indian Ministry of Defence, has Okayed the acquisition of 12 Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jets with associated equipment to be provided by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The important thing is that India has again ignored the threat of the Countering America’s Adversaries through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), which authorises the US administration to impose sanctions on countries that purchase major defence hardware from Russia in response to Moscow’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. The Sukhoi can also fire the Brahmos missile to a distance of 500 km, widening the arc of operations.
