Guwahati: In a significant development, India is set to deport 25,000 Muslim citizens to Bangladesh under the contentious Citizenship Act, marking a continuation of its stringent policies against minorities.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the Guwahati High Court has authorized the expulsion of over 5,000 Muslim families residing in Assam for the past five decades.
The Barpeta Foreigners’ Tribunal, established by the Modi administration, has labeled over 25,000 Muslims as illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. This decision follows their alleged failure to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO), attributed to their challenging economic conditions.
With the court’s ruling, approximately 25,000 Muslims, now identified as illegal migrants from Bangladesh, face imminent deportation. This development underscores the Modi government’s policies perceived as discriminatory against Muslims, intensifying their precarious situation.
