India strictly warned against ban on APHC, others

Srinagar, August 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other Hurriyat organizations continued to condemn the nefarious designs of India to enforce a ban on the Hurriyat conglomerate and other pro-freedom organizations, believing in peaceful political resolution of the Kashmir dispute as guaranteed by the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “It is highly unfortunate for India to destroy peaceful institutions of political narrative in Jammu and Kashmir and thrust a worst kind of extremism and fascism by converting the occupied territory into a military garrison.”

The spokesman expressing his anguish about the speculations of imposing a ban on APHC warned India that such draconian measures have failed in the past and shall meet the same fate in future as well. He said that the present fascist regime in India is absolutely mistaken about the potential resistance of the brave people of Kashmir who have defeated, time and again, many foreign occupants much powerful than India.

Taking a dig on the Indian move, the APHC spokesman said that the political conglomerate represents the popular will of Jammu and Kashmir which is an internationally recognised dispute to be resolved as per the United Nations Security council resolutions, keeping in view the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, so India should bear in mind that the people of Kashmir have and shall never surrender before the Indian military aggression, come what may. He asked India to learn a lesson from Afghanistan where occupation forces were forced to run away, at last.

Terming the freedom movement of Kashmir as legitimate, political and peaceful under UN charter, he said any Indian ploy to weaken our resistance movement shall be defeated by the freedom loving people of Kashmir. The APHC spokesman urged the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres to take serious action against the Indian barbarism and heinous war crimes in Kashmir and help resolve the long-pending dispute in accordance with the UNSC resolutions.

The Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while completely rejecting the propaganda being spread by the Indian authorities against the Hurriyat leadership said that it is completely unfounded. It reiterated that the sentiments of the people of Kashmir with regard to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in a peaceful and fair manner cannot be altered despite repression, legal tactics or propaganda. The statement maintained that the Hurriyat forum will continue to represent the aspirations of Kashmiri people and seek their fulfilment through its principled stand of dialogue among the stakeholders of the Kashmir dispute.

Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement Chairman Khawaja Firdous in a statement said that having failed in suppressing the Kashmiris’ genuine struggle for freedom, India has now resorted to mean tactics including the ban on Hurriyat organizations. He said that the Hurriyat is a recognized organizations which believes in settlement of the Kashmir dispute as per UN resolutions. He said that any such decision by the fascist Modi government would be resisted, tooth and nail.

Tehreek-e-Fikr-o-Aitqad Chairman Maulana Sarjan Barkati addressing a gathering in Shopian denounced Modi government for removing signboards from the offices of All Parties Hurriyat Conference and forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. He said that India is maligning the Hurriyat camp under a sinister plan.

Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Political Party Muhammad Yusuf Naqash in a statement said that India has never been adhered to the rules and regulations laid down by the United Nations and the civilized world. Kashmiris or minorities living in India have been treated inhumanely by India, he said. He warned that India cannot silence the Kashmiris forever. Naqash said that New Delhi had blocked all avenues to continue the freedom struggle through peaceful means.

While expressing its serious concerns over the Indian government’s nefarious designs, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) said that any such move would have serious repercussions. The DFP spokesman said that banning political parties and forums was an obvious manifestation of frustration on the part of Indian government that despite turning the entire Jammu and Kashmir into a virtual prison has miserably failed to subdue and suppress Kashmiris and their desire for freedom from India’s forcible occupation”.

The move, he said, was yet another attempt to choke every dissenting voice in Kashmir. Terming the APHC as a legitimate political forum the DFP spokesman warned the Indian government that any attempt to ban the world recognized forum, would have serious political ramifications.

“The APHC is a world recognized forum that enjoys observer status in the OIC and any attempt to blacklist the amalgam under black laws is tantamount to pushing Kashmiris into a quagmire of violence”, the spokesman added. He said, “Hurriyat Conference is purely a political platform, which was formally invited for a dialogue by the previous government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee”.

The APHC, he said, is the forum that represents the Kashmiris aspirations. Indian rulers in the recent past have acknowledged this ground reality by engaging Hurriyat leaders in a dialogue to discuss the way forward to settle the Kashmir dispute. The APHC is a credible political forum which could not be side-lined, silenced or rendered irrelevant by invoking imperialistic laws such as UAPA.

Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami in a statement while strongly reacting to the reports about possible ban on APHC and Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum described it as another brutal tactic of the colonial power, India. The TWI spokesman said that Hurriyat is a political forum, which believes in peaceful struggle for the right to self-determination of the Kashmir people as envisaged by the United Nations. He said that repeated failures in suppressing the movement even after revocation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir and ensuing atrocities have baffled the fascist Modi government and now it is trying to vent it anger by banning the political platform of the Kashmiri people.

The Jammu Kashmir Insaf Party (IIOJK), General Secretary Bashir Ahamad Butt, in a statement denounced the evil designs of India to strangulate the political voice of the people of Kashmir regarding their inalienable right to self-determination by imposing a ban on its sole representative body, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.

The party leader terming the proposed draconian move as illegal and illogical said that India is trying its last ditch effort to hold its illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the world to prevail upon India to refrain from repeating the history of Nazi Germany in Kashmir and allow a free and fair plebiscite in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, to which India is a signatory.

Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement in a statement sharply criticized the proposed move by the Modi government saying that people of Jammu and Kashmir are fighting for their right to self-determination for the past more than seven decades.

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) and senior Hurriyat leader Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori said that the Indian authorities are trying to silence Kashmir’s freedom voice by defaming Hurriyat camp. JKPL Spokesman Shameem Ahmed in a statement issued in Srinagar said that, such tactics would not stop Kashmiris from pursuing their struggle for right to self-determination. Khan Sopori warned Indian policy makers that Kashmiris will never sit quiet, so avoid underestimating brave Kashmiris.

The International Forum for Justice Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir said that India is frustrated by the resilience exhibited by the people of Kashmir. In a statement, rights body Chairman Muhammad Ahsan Untoo said that India is playing with the fire in Kashmir. It should learn from the situation in Afghanistan. He said, the Indian agencies and its nexus network in Kashmir and outside is defaming Hurriyat constituents for their stand, sacrifices, patience and continued struggle for right to self-determination. He urged the resistance leadership to call for a strong agitation against India if Hurriyat is banned.

The Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement (JKPRM) Dr Musaib and Jammu and Kashmir Social Justice League leader Fatima in their separate statements said that Kashmiris are struggling for right to self-determination and acts like banning Hurriyat would add to the worsening situation in IIOJK.

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Political Party Spokesman Professor Maqbool in a statement also condemned the possible Indian move. Hurriyat AJK leader Syed Yousuf Naseem said that the possible ban on Hurriyat would be the last nail in India’s coffin in the occupied territory. Tehreek-e-Istiqamat said that the decision would be brazen violation of the international law and the UN Charter.
