New Delhi, July 14, 2023 (PPI-OT): In order to further brutalize innocent people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Modi-led Indian government has deployed personnel of a special commando unit of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force in the territory. A contingent of CRPF’s COBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), a specialized force in guerilla and jungle warfare originally raised to suppress the Naxalite movement in India, landed in Srinagar a few months ago and are currently undergoing training at a CRPF training site on the outskirts of the city.

In this regard, an officer based in Srinagar said, “In the pre-induction training camp here, the elite Cobra commandos, who are trained for jungle warfare, are receiving training for urban and rural warfare.” “The operating procedure in jungle warfare is completely different from that of urban and rural warfare,” he explained. He stated that the COBRA commandos are being taught in urban and rural combat, as well as how to operate in rural and urban regions.

The conditioning camp is also being organised for COBRA commandos in order to acclimatize them to the weather conditions in Kashmir, where temperatures can drop below freezing during the winter. “Because they have come from Naxal areas, where the weather is usually hot,” he said, adding, “The conditioning camp will acclimatize them to the weather of Kashmir.”

“They (COBRA commandos) may be deployed in south and north Kashmir,” he said. Reportedly, the COBRA commandos would also be taught the basic Kashmiri dialect so that they can understand the local language.
