Srinagar, January 16, 2023 (PPI-OT):India in continuous violation of international laws and conventions has planned a housing colony for serving and retired army officers, soldiers and their families in the heart of Jammu city of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The plan for creating the housing colony in the winter capital has been devised by the Indian Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO). The dwellers would be issued the IIOJK’s domicile as per new domicile laws introduced by the Modi regime after the abrogation of special status Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.
The organisation started a demand survey for Jammu city for group housing to ascertain the demand from serving /retired Army personnel, widows and parents of deceased army personnel who are in receipt of family pension. The housing colony will have hundreds of flats. The survey will conclude on April, 30 this year. According to the notification uploaded on official website of the organization, the desirous soldiers, serving or retired, besides their families, have been asked to submit their applications.
The notification says that the personnel who have resided for a period of 15 years in J and K, those who have studied in the territory for a period of seven years and appeared in Class 10th / 12th examination in any educational institutions located in IIOJK and the Defence personnel who have served in the territory for 15 years and above are also eligible to apply. The housing colony project, the AWHO said, will be planned based on the response received from the environment.
Pertinently, prior to the nullification of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution, only state subjects of Jammu and Kashmir were allowed to buy land and apply for government jobs in IIOJK. However, the Modi regime while violating international laws and encroaching upon the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people illegally abrogated J and K’s special status and notified the so-called Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020, on May 18 to allow non-locals to register for domicile certificates of the territory. The whole exercise, as per UN mandate, is invalid and illegal, which is aimed at changing the existing demographic character of the occupied territory.
