Srinagar, Indian forces in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred 919 children during the past thirty-five years in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service on the occasion of the World Children’s Day, today, said these 919 children are among the 96,274 people martyred by Indian troops and paramilitary forces since January 01, 1989. The report said that the killing of civilians rendered 107,934 Kashmiri children orphaned. Besides, thousands of people, including school boys and girls, were injured in pellet firing by Indian troops on peaceful protesters. The report particularly mentioned 19-month-old Hiba Jan, 4-year-old Zuhra Majeed, 8-year-old Asif Rashid, 8-year-old Owais Ahmad, 10-year-old Asif Ahmad Sheikh and 13-year-old Mir Arafat who lost their eyesight in the pellets firing.
APHC jailed leaders in their statements urged the United Nations General Secretary and human rights organizations to take notice of Kashmiri children’s plight as a result of India’s continued occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti in an apparent criticism of rising Hindutva in India under Modi rule cited history of Pakistan-India matches and slammed the behaviour of the Indians over their defeat in Cricket World Cup at Ahmedabad, the other day. She said cricket should be played in a sporting spirit and not be treated as a war. Making a mention of Pakistan-India cricket matches in the pre-Modi regime era, Mufti said when an Indian player played well, the Pakistani crowd appreciated him and the vice versa. That is, she added, how the game should be seen.
Kashmiri traders under the umbrella of Kashmir Traders Alliance have raised serious concern about the prevalent power crisis in the occupied territory. The trader leaders, including their president Aijaz Shahdhar, said life in the Kashmir valley has further degraded due to the exceeding power cuts.
A protest demonstration was held at Pathanatir in Mendhar area of Poonch district against the anti-people policies of the occupation regime. The protesters said that they were without water for the past one month. The protesters said women have to walk many miles to fetch water.
On the other hand, Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in Saloki forest area of Rajouri district, today.
