New Delhi, September 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):During the Modi government, India is falling in the world rankings on many fronts, the latest example of which is the 2021 Human Development Index.
India is currently going through an economic crisis and the condition of the people is very poor. Although the Modi government does not recognize inflation and unemployment as serious problems, the Human Development Index 2021 has made it clear that India lags far behind other countries in terms of human development.
On some other fronts as well, India’s position in the global ranking has gone down. Under the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Human Development Index report of 191 countries has been released in 2021, in which India is at the 132nd position.
Under the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Human Development Index report of 191 countries has been released in 2021, in which India is at the 132nd position.
Earlier in 2020, India was ranked 131st but at that time this ranking was based on 189 countries. The Global Press Freedom Index report was released in May this year. In this index, India’s ranking has slipped from 142nd position to 150th position. This report was released by an international organization called Reporters without Borders.
Similarly, 116 countries were included in the 2021 Global Poverty Index, in which India was ranked 101st. The report was released in October last year. In the report, neighbouring countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal are mentioned ahead of India.
It is worth noting that India was ranked 94th out of 107 countries in the World Poverty Index in 2020. As far as democracy is concerned, the Economist Intelligence Unit of Britain ranked India at the 53rd position in the 2020 global ranking, which is the highest in the world. In 2019, India was at the 51st position.
