Jammu: India has stationed a permanent unit of the National Security Guard (NSG) in Jammu, occupied Jammu and Kashmir, following an escalation in armed resistance in the area. This strategic move aims to enhance the security response and support existing local forces, including the army and police.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision to deploy the NSG, also known as the Black Cats, is intended to facilitate faster reaction times to emergencies, addressing previous delays caused by deploying forces from Delhi or Chandigarh. The NSG unit’s presence is expected to bolster operations in regions like Kathua and Poonch, where resistance activities have been on the rise.
The deployment includes collaboration with frontline units such as the Special Operations Group (SOG) and paramilitary forces. Although the exact number of NSG personnel assigned to the region has not been disclosed, officials assure that the team is fully prepared to manage a broad spectrum of threats.
