Srinagar, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):As many as 15,000 additional Indian troops are being deployed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the garb of security for Amaranth Yatra to be held in the last week of June. Indian Home Ministry had approved the deployment of 15,000 troops in the occupied territory in the name of security arrangements for the annual Yatra in the Kashmir Valley.
The approval was given at a meeting chaired by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, last week. These troops are in addition to over 1.1 million Indian troops already deployed in the occupied territory.
These companies of Indian forces had started arriving in Jammu for the past several days and their formal deployment in the Kashmir Valley has started from Monday. The services of Indian Border Security Force have also been hired in Khatua and Samba districts. The arrival of such a large number of Yatris in the occupied territory poses a serious threat to the local environment and natural resources.
