Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned a recent attack on tourists in Pahalgam, located in the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC asserts that India is attempting to portray the Kashmiris’ genuine freedom struggle as terrorism through false flag operations and anti-Pakistan rhetoric.
According to a statement from the APHC, as reported by Kashmir Media Service, spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas drew parallels between this attack and the 2000 massacre of Sikhs in Chittisinghpura, which coincided with a visit by then U.S. President Bill Clinton. The spokesman claims that the incident is part of a pattern, referencing similar occurrences like the Pathankot, Uri, and Pulwama attacks, suggesting these are orchestrated to discredit the Kashmiri cause internationally.
The statement further alleges that investigations into the Sikh massacre pointed towards the involvement of Indian forces, and these actions are seen as attempts to secure international sympathy.
The APHC has called upon the United Nations to enforce its resolutions on Kashmir, warning of potential regional instability due to these alleged operations. The spokesman criticized the Indian government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its continued accusations against Pakistan, stating that credible evidence has consistently been lacking.
Advocate Minhas emphasized that the Kashmiris are pursuing their UN-recognized right to self-determination, not terrorism, and their struggle has received acknowledgment as legitimate on the global stage.
