New Delhi: India has intensified its digital crackdown on Pakistani media outlets by blocking access to the YouTube channel of Pakistan’s army media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). The move is part of a broader effort to restrict Pakistani media’s presence in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian government has urged platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and X to prohibit all Pakistani handles from operating within the country. This step reflects ongoing tensions between the two nations and India’s focus on national security and public order.
Users attempting to access the ISPR channel on YouTube are now met with a message indicating that the content is unavailable due to a government order. This action is not isolated to ISPR alone; several popular Pakistani drama channels, including ARY, Har Pal Geo, and Hum TV, have also been blocked.
In addition to YouTube, the crackdown extends to Instagram, where several Pakistani celebrities, such as Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, and others, find their handles restricted in India.
Previously, India has banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including major news outlets like Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, and Geo News, as part of its ongoing efforts to limit Pakistani media influence.
