India Blocks Account of Information Minister Following Criticism

Islamabad: The social media account of Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has been blocked in India. This move follows the earlier suspension of accounts belonging to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Director General of Inter Services Public Relations.

The account’s suspension comes after Minister Tarar highlighted allegations of state repression and human rights violations by India, particularly concerning the treatment of the Kashmiri people. His statements on international platforms drew sharp criticism from Indian authorities.

The blocking of Tarar’s account has been seen as a retaliatory action by India, aiming to curb voices critical of its policies in Kashmir. This development was reported by Radio Pakistan, which underscored the ongoing tensions between the two nations over the Kashmir issue.

The restriction on these accounts has sparked further debate over the role of social media in international diplomacy and the challenges of maintaining open communication channels amid political disputes.
