New Delhi: In a significant development in Indian politics, the INDIA bloc emerged as the clear winner in recent by-elections, securing 10 out of 13 Assembly seats across seven states. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) captured only two seats, while an independent candidate took one.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Congress party won a total of four seats, including two in BJP-ruled Uttarakhand and two in Himachal Pradesh. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) swept all four seats in West Bengal. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed victory in the Jalandhar West seat in Punjab, and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) triumphed in Tamil Nadu’s Vikravandi constituency. The elections were held on July 10.
The results have been welcomed by leaders of the winning parties, with the Congress interpreting their success as indicative of a shifting political landscape. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin both expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes, viewing them as rejections of BJP policies and affirmations of their respective party’s governance.
