India allocates Rs 5,250 billion for defence budget 

New Delhi, February 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):In order to fulfill India’s hegemonic ambitions, Narendra Modi-led fascist government has increased the defence budget of the country to Rs 5,250 billion for 2022-23 from last year’s allocation of Rs 4,860 billion. In the budget presented in the Parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on Tuesday, a total of Rs 1,523 billion has been set aside for capital expenditure that includes purchasing new weapons, aircraft, warships and other military hardware.

For 2021-22, the budgetary allocation for capital outlay was Rs 1,350 billion crore but the revised estimate showed the expenditure at Rs 1,388 billion. As per the budget documents, an allocation of Rs 2,330 billion has been made for revenue expenditure that includes expenses on payment of salaries and maintenance of establishments. Separately, an amount of Rs 1,196 billion has been allocated for defence pensions while Rs 201 billion has been set aside for the Ministry of Defence (Civil).
