Islamabad: India has been accused of employing state terrorism as an official policy to collectively punish Kashmiris in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), following a surge in repressive actions by Indian forces in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the situation in IIOJK has intensified since the Pahalgam incident on April 22, which has been described as a false flag operation. In the aftermath, more than 2,500 Kashmiris have reportedly been detained arbitrarily, and 36 homes destroyed by Indian forces.
The Modi administration is alleged to be utilizing all available means of state oppression to quell the ongoing freedom movement in Kashmir. Reports suggest that fake encounters, extrajudicial killings, cordon-and-search operations, and mass raids have become routine in the contested territory.
In April alone, nine Kashmiris were reportedly killed, and the properties of 31 civilians seized across IIOJK. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is being accused of forcefully advancing its Hindutva agenda in the region.
Critics argue that India’s actions in Kashmir constitute clear violations of international law and human rights. Calls are mounting for the international community to intervene and hold India accountable for what have been described as crimes against humanity in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
