India Accused of Human Rights Violations in Kashmir by APHC-AJK

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has accused India of employing severe tactics to maintain its control over Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi made these remarks in Islamabad on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. Safi argued that the concept of slavery is not confined to the past, suggesting that it persists in contemporary forms. He claimed that India, self-proclaimed as the world’s largest democracy and a human rights advocate, has been occupying Jammu and Kashmir since October 26, 1947, when its troops allegedly landed in Srinagar under the cover of night.

Safi further alleged that India has committed numerous human rights violations to sustain this occupation, including the killing of thousands of Kashmiris, imprisonment and torture of many others, and the disabling of children through pellet injuries. He also cited the confiscation of properties and dismissal of employees on unsubstantiated charges as part of these efforts.

The statement emphasized that the struggle against what is described as Indian “slavery” has been ongoing since 1947. Safi called upon the international community, including the United Nations, Islamic nations, and human rights organizations, to support Kashmiris in their pursuit of self-determination.
