Karachi: Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani has asserted that India is attempting to shift international attention away from the critical issue of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Speaking at the Rotary International District Conference 2025 in Karachi, Gilani emphasized the significance of addressing the longstanding Kashmir conflict.
Gilani stated that Pakistan remains committed to peace and is open to a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam incident, urging India to avoid assigning blame before any formal inquiry. His remarks were reported by the Kashmir Media Service.
Addressing the members of the Rotary Club, Gilani, who identifies as a peace ambassador, called on Rotarians to contribute to reducing tensions between the two neighboring countries. He commended the Rotary Club in Pakistan for its efforts in promoting peace, healthcare, and polio eradication, as well as its role in fostering strong communities.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to eradicating polio, Gilani highlighted the country’s ongoing commitment to achieving a polio-free status. The Rotary International District Conference served as a platform for discussing these key issues and exploring collaborative strategies for peace and development.
