Independent and Party Candidates Secure Wins in Pakistan’s 2024 General Elections


Islamabad, In the latest updates from Pakistan’s General Elections 2024, a mix of independent and party-affiliated candidates have emerged victorious across the National Assembly, Punjab Assembly, Sindh Assembly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and Balochistan Assembly. Notable wins include independent Shandana Gulzar Khan in NA-30 Peshawar 3 and Mian Shehbaz Sharif of PML-N in NA-123 Lahore 7, among others. The election results highlight a diverse political landscape, with both established parties and independent candidates gaining significant seats.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the unofficial and provisional results from the Election Commission of Pakistan show a varied distribution of seats among the different political entities and independents. In the National Assembly, independent candidates like Ali Khan Jadoon in NA-17 Abbottabad 2 and party affiliates such as Ali Gohar Khan Mahar of PPPP in NA-199 Ghotki 2 secured wins. Similarly, the Punjab Assembly saw winners like Sultan Haider Ali Khan of PML-N in PP-Chakwal 1, and the Sindh Assembly results favored PPPP candidates in multiple constituencies, including Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar in PS-20 Ghotki 20.



The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly results also showcased a mix, with independent Samiullah Khan taking PK-76 Peshawar 5, and in Balochistan Assembly, Masood Ali Khan of PML-N won in PB-6 Duki. These results underscore the competitive nature of Pakistani politics, where both individual and party dynamics play critical roles.
