Karachi, In a significant development for Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi’s Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated an open-air gym at the Pak-China Friendship Park. The ceremony, held on Kashmir Road, was marked by the presence of China’s Consul General Yang Yundong, People’s Party District Central General Secretary Dil Muhammad, and other high-ranking officials.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the new facility symbolizes the deepening ties between Pakistan and China. During the inauguration, Mayor Wahab and Consul General Yundong cut a cake celebrating Pakistan-China friendship and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for ongoing cooperation. The Consul General of China lauded the establishment of the Pak-China Friendship Park, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in bringing the two countries closer.
Mayor Wahab highlighted the historical significance of the Pakistan-China relationship, tracing its strengthening ties back to the era of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and subsequent leaders. He emphasized the critical role of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor in bolstering Pakistan’s economy and providing employment opportunities, describing it as a game-changer in the region.
The Pak-China Friendship Park is seen as a symbol of the enduring bond between the two nations. Mayor Wahab expressed hopes that the park would not only provide modern facilities to Karachi’s citizens but also serve as a constant reminder of the gratitude owed to the Chinese government for its pivotal role in Pakistan’s development and stability.
