Chiniot: The inauguration of the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) Chiniot Campus was held today, marking a significant milestone in the region’s educational landscape. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal, highlighted the campus as a catalyst for social and economic advancement.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, and Vice Chancellor of GCUF Dr. Rauf Azam. Local lawmakers, community leaders, faculty, students, and citizens were also present.
Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the campus’s role in Vision 2025, aiming to make higher education accessible across Pakistan. He stressed the importance of integrating education with industry to foster national progress and outlined the government’s export target of $100 billion for self-reliance.
Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh celebrated the realization of his long-held vision for the campus, constructed at a cost of Rs. 2 billion. He announced the donation of a bus for student transportation, highlighting the campus’s potential to secure a promising future for Chiniot’s youth.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed reiterated the government’s commitment to education, noting the distribution of scholarships to over 400,000 students. He emphasized the need for educational opportunities for all societal segments.
Dr. Rauf Azam underscored the campus’s significance for local students, eliminating the need to travel to larger cities for higher education. He previewed the introduction of modern academic programs tailored to current technological demands.
Ahsan Iqbal urged the youth to focus on acquiring digital skills, supported by government initiatives such as the distribution of laptops. He emphasized the importance of equipping young people with expertise in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
The ceremony also included acknowledgments of the national defense forces. Ahsan Iqbal and Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh commended the Pakistan Armed Forces’ capabilities, citing the Pakistan Air Force’s achievements in national defense.
The event concluded with commitments to national development and educational progress, positioning GCUF Chiniot Campus as a symbol of hope and advancement for the region.
