Islamabad, August 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sentop phoned the Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Raja Pervez Ashraf to condole on disastrous floods resulting in the loss of innocent lives and infrastructure.

At the outset, the Speaker National Assembly thanked his Türkiye counterpart and the Türkiye government for the timely dispatch of the team for flood relief assistance. The Speaker Pervez Ashraf highlighted that since June 2022, Pakistan had witnessed the highest rainfall on record. This had caused widespread flooding and landslides, with extreme repercussions for human lives, livelihoods, livestock, property and infrastructure. The disaster would likely be compounded by riverine floods as well, he added. The Speaker stressed that extensive damages to infrastructure was further impeding the relocation of people to safe locations and the effective delivery of assistance.

The Türkiye Speaker expressed his sympathies with the government, parliament and people of Pakistan and said that Türkiye was ready to extend its all-out support to the brotherly Pakistan in these times of crisis. While conveying his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones during the natural calamity, the Türkiye Speaker said that the hearts and minds of the Türkiye people were with their brothers and sisters in Pakistan. The Speaker thanked his Türkiye counterpart and reiterated his commitment towards promoting bilateral ties in all spheres.
