Islamabad: The Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Antonio Dominguez Velasco, is scheduled to visit Pakistan from Thursday to Saturday, marking his first-ever visit to the country in this capacity.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during his visit, Dominguez Velasco will participate in the “International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference.” He will also hold meetings with Pakistan’s leadership and senior government officials. The visit aims to provide a platform for discussions on the maritime sector and the blue economy, areas critical to both Pakistan and the IMO.
Pakistan, a founding member of the IMO, has been actively involved with the organization, reflecting its commitment to IMO’s vision of safe, secure, and efficient shipping on clean oceans. The country has served five terms on the IMO Council, contributing significantly to the IMO’s objectives.
The Secretary General’s visit is expected to further strengthen the collaboration between Pakistan and the IMO, enhancing their shared goals for maritime safety and environmental sustainability.
