IMF Mission Reviews Pakistan’s Economic Measures, Endorses Government Efforts

Islamabad, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs, met with an IMF review mission led by Mr. Nathan Porter to discuss Pakistan’s economic reforms and strategies. The meeting showcased the country’s progress on fiscal measures and reforms aimed at economic stability.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting held at the Finance Division included key figures such as the IMF resident representative, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and other senior officials. Dr. Akhtar briefed the IMF Mission on the progress under the Standby Arrangement (SBA) and detailed the government’s actions, including efforts by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to implement comprehensive reforms and address the circular debt issue.

Mr. Nathan Porter, the IMF Mission Chief, acknowledged the government’s success in meeting the first-quarter targets and emphasized the necessity of continuing these efforts for the country’s economic stability. Dr. Akhtar, expressing gratitude for the IMF’s support, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the successful completion of the SBA and the achievement of Pakistan’s economic goals.
