Islamabad, The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Pakistan, Mr. Nathan Porter, and the IMF Resident Representative for Pakistan, Ms. Esther Perez Tuiz, met with the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to discuss the progress of the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) review. The meeting acknowledged the effective efforts of the Pakistani government in meeting the SBA’s quarterly targets, leading to positive outcomes in technical level talks.
According to Press Information Department (PID), Mr. Porter appreciated the contributions of Pakistan’s Finance Minister, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and their teams in the technical discussions under the First Review of the SBA. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the IMF team for its support and commended the leadership of the Finance Minister and the Governor of SBP for advancing the program.
Prime Minister Kakar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the reform efforts agreed upon with the IMF, emphasizing their importance for the long-term stabilization of Pakistan’s economy. The meeting, also attended by the Minister of Finance, Governor of SBP, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, and senior government officials, underscored a collaborative approach towards fulfilling the program’s objectives.
