Islamabad, In a significant move to curb illegal internet operations, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), with assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has successfully executed a raid on an unauthorized internet service provider located in Layyah.
According to a news release by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the joint operation led by PTA’s Zonal Office Multan and the FIA resulted in the seizure of the active internet setup and related equipment. Additionally, two individuals were detained on-site by the FIA. These individuals are now in custody, undergoing further investigation and inquiry in accordance with the law.
The PTA has been proactive and consistent in its endeavors to clamp down on illegal internet services. Such services not only undermine the legal and regulated framework but also lead to financial losses for the country due to tax evasion and misrepresentation of revenues. In light of this event, the PTA has issued a public reminder, urging individuals to use telecommunication services solely from PTA-licensed providers, warning that non-compliance may result in unexpected service disruptions.
