IIOJK Public Health Workers Demand Regularization of Employment

Srinagar, Scores of daily-wage workers from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are calling for the regularization of their positions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a press conference held in Srinagar, Sajad Parray, the Chairman of the Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association, highlighted the longstanding issue of the non-regularization of 61,000 daily wagers across various departments, including the PHE. Parray emphasized that despite the formation of multiple commissions and committees by successive governments, which have recognized the issue as both a human and social concern, the problem remains unresolved.

Parray pointed out the dedication and hard work of these workers, who have contributed significantly during floods, periods of turmoil, and the COVID-19 pandemic, all while receiving minimal salaries. “We have worked in floods, turmoil, and COVID and given our best despite meager salaries. We are still awaiting decent salaries and regularization,” he stated.

To further their cause, Parray announced that a peaceful protest is scheduled to take place under the auspices of the Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association on March 9 at the Chief Office in Rajbagh, aimed at pressing for their demands for regularization and improved salaries.
