IIOJK High Court to Address Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s House Arrest Petition

Srinagar: The High Court in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is set to hear a petition this Friday regarding the house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC). The court’s review comes after Mirwaiz filed a plea challenging his confinement, which he and his legal team describe as unlawful.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been under house detention for the past month, with significant restrictions on his movement, countering claims by the BJP-led IIOJK administration that he is free. The APHC leader’s petition seeks a permanent release from house arrest, arguing that his detention lacks legal grounds.

The upcoming court hearing marks a critical point in the ongoing legal battle over Mirwaiz’s confinement, setting the stage for judicial scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding his house arrest.
