Srinagar: In a significant judicial ruling, the High Court of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir has nullified the detention of four youths held under the contentious Public Safety Act (PSA), commonly criticized as a draconian measure.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Justice Sanjay Dhar of the High Court ordered the release of Firdous Ahmad Butt, Shoaib Maqbool Sheikh, Sajad Ahmad Soliha, and Salik Khurshid Pandani. These individuals were detained in Srinagar and Baramulla in 2022, primarily for advocating a plebiscite in the region.
Concurrently, the Principal Sessions Court of Bandipora, presided over by Judge Amit Sharma, denied bail to another individual detained during a cordon and search operation back in 2012, indicating ongoing legal complexities in the region related to security operations.
