IIOJK court quashes PSA detention of Shopian youth jailed in UP

Srinagar, January 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a Division Bench of the High Court has quashed the detention of a Shopian youth lodged in an Indian jail under the black law, Public Safety Act (PSA). The detainee, Rayees Ahmed Sofi, who is a rickshaw driver by profession, is presently detained in Central Jail Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak argued that the detaining authority has not attributed any specific allegation against the detainee. He contended that the detainee was arrested in old cases and on charges of ‘fake’ stone-pelting. The court quashed his detention and ordered his release.
