IIOJK authorities to continue ban on procession of 8th Muharram in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): The authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have decided to continue ban on the 8th Muharram procession in Srinagar. According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities at a meeting in Srinagar, today, decided to continue with the ban on the Muslims’ religious procession.

The authorities had banned the major Muharram processions in 1989 fearing that these may turn into pro-Azadi demonstrations. The occupation authorities have decided to disallow the Muslims’ religious processions at a time when they are facilitating the over two-month-long Hindus’ annual Amarnath Yatra in the occupied territory.
