IIOJK Authorities Seal Srinagar Jamia Masjid; Key Leaders Under House Arrest

Birmingham, In a move echoing last week’s restrictions, the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), has once again been sealed by the local authorities.

According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, Kashmir Media Service reports that the Anjuman Auqaf, the governing body of the Jamia Masjid, stated in a release from Srinagar that local police have shut the mosque’s gates and relayed instructions to prevent them from conducting Friday prayers for the second consecutive week. Alongside these actions, senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was placed under house arrest, barring him from leading the customary Friday prayers at the notable mosque.

Furthermore, in Badgam, senior APHC leader Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi was restricted from leading a planned demonstration against Israel outside the imambargah. Notably, another distinguished Shia scholar, Agha Syed Mohammad Hadi Al Moosvi, was also placed under house arrest, preventing him from spearheading demonstrations intended for today in Bemina, Badgam, expressing solidarity with Palestine.
