Srinagar, August 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, has denounced the authorities for not allowing the Muslims of Kashmir to perform their congregational prayers in the historic central place of worship.
Anjuman Auqaf in a statement in Srinagar deplored that along with repeated restrictions on Friday prayers in the Jamia Masjid, it has been three years since the continued detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq since August 2019. It added that due to the three-year-long illegal and arbitrary detention of Mirwaiz, the pulpit of Jamia Masjid continues to remain silent.
The Anjuman said the authorities should stop repeated restrictions on Friday prayers and immediately and unconditionally release the Mirwaiz so that he can perform his duties of religious enlightenment and social and moral guidance that the Institution of Mirwaiz enjoins upon him.
