Srinagar, June 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities confined the Kashmiri Pandit employees to their pooled accommodations, today, as they have threatened to leave the Valley in protest against the recent killings of their community members.
The Kashmiri Pandit employees were confined by the authorities to pooled accommodations in Tullamulla area of Ganderbal district, Sheikhpora in Badgam district, Veesu in Islamabad, and in Baramulla and Kupwara districts.
The Kashmiri Pandits working at different government offices in the Valley have threatened to leave the Valley en masse saying that the authorities have completely failed in protecting them. These employees have not been attending duties after Rahul Bhat was killed by unidentified gunmen in his office in Chadoora area of Badgam district on May 12.
The killing of a woman teacher, Rajni Bhalla, in Kulgam district on Tuesday sparked fresh protests of the Pandit employees who want to be adjusted in government offices outside the Kashmir Valley. Meanwhile, an association of Kashmiri Pandits, Kheer Bhawani Asthapan Trust has appealed that this year’s annual festival at the Mata Kheer Bhawani in Ganderbal district should be cancelled keeping in view the general fear among the community because of the recent killings.
On the other hand, media reports quoting official sources said the authorities have decided to immediately post Kashmiri migrants employed under the Indian prime minister’s special package and other employees belonging to the Jammu division in “secured locations” in the Valley by coming Monday (June 6).
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting of administrative heads and senior police officers chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha early on Wednesday after a series of targeted killings of Hindu government employees by unknown gunmen and fears of their exodus from the Kashmir Valley, reports said.
