IIOJK authorities condemned for disallowing Jumatul-Wida prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar

Srinagar, April 15, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar has condemned the authorities for once again imposing restrictions and disallowing Friday prayers on the auspicious occasion of Jumat-ul-Wida at the historic mosque. The Anjuman in a statement said that administration officials and Indian police personnel locked the gates of the grand mosque without giving any reason. It said one fails to understand the logic behind this abrupt and arbitrary restriction. The statement deplored that this was the 4th consecutive year that the Jumatul-Wida prayers were disallowed at the historic mosque by the occupation authorities.

On the other hand, a resolution compiled by the Jammu and Kashmir Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema, headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was read by the ulema, khateebs, preachers and imams in large gatherings, mosques, monasteries, Imambargahs and shrines during the Friday prayers on the occasion of Jumat-Wida. The resolution strongly condemned Israel’s occupation of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the recent aggression, brutality and violence committed by Israeli forces against the Palestinian people during the holy month of Ramadan.

It urged the Muslim world, particularly the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to take steps to free the first Qibla from Israeli occupation so that Muslims can peacefully perform their religious duties in the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It protested against the prolonged illegal and arbitrary detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has been under house arrest since 5 August 2019, and called for his immediate release in view of important Islamic events like Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr, so that he can fulfill his religious duties.

The resolution also asked the Kashmiri people to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr with simplicity in line with Islamic values and traditions. And on this occasion, the poor and downtrodden sections of society should be taken care of at every level, it said.
