Srinagar, February 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities once again disallowed people to offer Juma prayers, today, at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar. Anjuman Auqaf of the Jamia Masjid in a statement said that it was the 28th consecutive Friday that the congregational prayers were not allowed at the grand mosque, terming the authorities action as extremely unfortunate and condemnable. “By doing so, the administration continues to hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims which is reprehensible in every respect,” it said.
The Anjuman said that the two-and-a-half years of ban on the topmost religious leader of the Kashmiri people, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, due to which he is unable to perform his religious obligations as well as the duties the institution of Mirwaiz enjoins upon him, is unjustified. The Anjuman said that it was also very surprising that despite the peaceful protests and voices from all sections of the society across IIOJK, the authorities were not allowing the Jamia Masjid to open for Friday prayers and also not releasing the Mirwaiz.
