ISLAMABAD: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, conducted a visit to Imambargah Asna Ashari to evaluate the security measures in place for the upcoming religious processions. Accompanied by senior officers of the Islamabad Police, IGP Rizvi assessed the main procession route and engaged with the Imambargah administration to ensure comprehensive security plans.
The IGP emphasized the implementation of stringent security arrangements for the main procession. Across Islamabad district, 181 processions and 965 Majalis (religious gatherings) are scheduled to take place. To secure these events, over 16,000 officers and officials have been deployed.
Ten field vigilance teams, led by senior officers, have been tasked with inspecting security measures. In addition, 284 checkpoints have been established in procession and Majalis areas, supported by special patrolling units throughout the district.
Seventeen search operations have been conducted, with plans to continue these efforts until the 40th day of mourning, known as Chehlum. IGP Rizvi assured that police officers will maintain a constant presence during the days of Muharram, with activities monitored via the Safe City Control Room.
For enhanced security and surveillance, the police are utilizing 3,000 Safe City cameras, drones, and smart patrol cars. Coordination among all departments is prioritized to manage any emergencies, and citizens are encouraged to report incidents by contacting “Pukaar-15.”
