IGP Islamabad Calls for Overhaul of Police Stations and Enhanced Eid Security Measures

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, convened an Operational Commanders Conference at the Central Police Office in Islamabad, announcing a series of initiatives aimed at overhauling police operations and enhancing security measures for the upcoming Eid holiday. The meeting, attended by top police officials, outlined plans to upgrade police stations and strengthen public safety.

The conference commenced with a prayer for ASI Sudheer Abbasi, who was martyred, and a special supplication for the recovery of injured Constable Jaffar Jahangir. A directive was issued to transform all police stations in the federal capital into Special Initiative Police Stations within 30 days, in line with instructions from the Federal Interior Minister.

Renovations, including upgrades to IT infrastructure and human resources, are to be completed by June 25. The stations will focus on fostering national and social unity. A special committee, led by senior police officials, was formed to oversee these changes, with an emphasis on citizen-friendly policing.

IGP Rizvi received updates on security arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha and the current crime situation in the district. Over 1,000 officers will be deployed at six cattle markets in Islamabad to ensure safety, with help desks set up to address issues such as fraud and counterfeit currency.

Eid prayers are scheduled at 832 locations citywide, with special security checkpoints and additional personnel assigned to maintain order. On Eid night, 1,000 officers will be stationed at 44 special points, supported by a patrolling plan involving 982 officers.

During the Eid holidays, 1,040 officers will manage security and traffic at public and recreational sites. A special traffic and patrolling plan is in place for Margalla Hills to ensure public safety and emergency response.

IGP Rizvi emphasized Eid as a time for interfaith harmony and directed officers to activate special duties and neighborhood watch systems to prevent burglaries. Help desks will be established in commercial centers, and officers will target beggars, one-wheeling, aerial firing, and illegal weapons.

The police will intensify search operations against criminal elements and enforce regulations on cattle market locations. Legal action will be taken against unauthorized market setups, ensuring compliance with designated sites.
