Karachi, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon conducted a detailed inspection of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to evaluate the ongoing efforts against crimes under its jurisdiction and issued directives for further action. During his visit, IG Memon was briefed on the department’s achievements and challenges by the senior officials.
According to Sindh Police, the DIG CTD presented a comprehensive report on the department’s performance over the past four months. He highlighted that from January to April 2024, the CTD registered 87 cases based on intelligence operations, resulting in the arrest of 10 high-profile terrorists and the conviction of 11 by the courts. These results were achieved through substantive investigations and effective legal follow-ups.
IG Memon commended the department for its successful outcomes in combating terrorism, emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement in their operations to meet current demands. He stressed the necessity for stricter controls on illegal arms and their sale, identifying these measures as crucial for crime prevention in the region. Additionally, Memon pointed out the need for more skilled prosecutors to secure convictions in terrorism-related cases, underscoring the dependence of successful legal outcomes on robust investigations and concrete legal challenges.
