Karachi, Inspector General of Police Sindh, Rifaat Mukhtar Raja, met with a delegation from the Pakistan and Punjab Blind Associations, led by their respective presidents, Waqas and Usman Saeed, at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The meeting focused on fostering the involvement of special children in sports activities.
According to Sindh Police, the delegation discussed their plans to organize sports events for special children in Karachi and sought support and encouragement from IG Sindh for these initiatives. IG Raja expressed his full support and assistance from both himself and the Sindh Police for organizing these activities. He commended the association’s commitment to nurturing special children through sports and acknowledged their efforts in providing opportunities for this community.
Geneva, The United Nations Human Rights Office has expressed deep concern over the recent deadly attack in the occupied Ukrainian city of Donetsk. The assault, which targeted two local markets and a residential area, resulted in civilian casualties.
According to Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani stated that efforts are underway to gather more information about the attack. Despite challenges in accessing Donetsk and other Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine, preliminary reports indicating civilian fatalities are being verified.
The UN Human Rights Office emphasized the need for thorough, prompt, and independent investigations to ascertain the facts and assign responsibility for the attack. These investigations are crucial to determine whether the attack breached the laws governing the conduct of hostilities, with the ultimate goal of ensuring accountability.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, underscored the imperative of strict adherence to international humanitarian law by all parties involved in the conflict. He stressed the importance of taking all necessary precautions to prevent civilian casualties and safeguard civilians from harm.
