IG Sindh Orders High Alert Following Balochistan Explosions

Karachi, In response to the recent bomb blasts in Fort Saifullah and Pashin, Balochistan, IG Sindh Rifat Mukhtar Raja has directed the Sindh Police to elevate their state of alertness. This move aims to bolster security measures across the region, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming elections, to ensure the safety of voters, candidates, polling staff, and materials.

According to Sindh Police, IG Raja has instructed all district police officers to enhance collaboration with intelligence agencies and remain vigilant. The directive includes increasing police patrols and snap checks, particularly in and around sensitive polling stations, to thwart any potential security threats.

Furthermore, IG Raja emphasized the need for a more robust and coordinated intelligence gathering and follow-up process to preemptively identify and mitigate risks. He also called for comprehensive security coverage at key public spaces, including central mosques, imam bargahs, madrasas, and places of worship for minority communities, as well as residential areas, government and private buildings, and other sensitive locations.

The IG underscored the importance of immediate action upon the discovery of any suspicious items, vehicles, or packages, mandating that the bomb disposal squad be contacted without delay to perform necessary sweeps and clearances. This heightened security protocol reflects the Sindh Police’s commitment to maintaining peace and order during a critical period for the region’s democratic processes.
