Karachi: In a concerted effort to enhance the effectiveness of the police complaint cell, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon presided over a comprehensive review meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The focus of the discussion was to assess and refine the current processes and performance of the complaint cell, aiming to streamline operations and bolster public trust in law enforcement responsiveness.
According to Sindh Police, the meeting brought together senior officials including DIG Headquarters, IT, AIG Admin, Complaints Cell, Operations, and PDIT. AIG Complaints Cell delivered a detailed presentation on the department’s performance, addressing how complaints are currently received via MS, Email, and WhatsApp.
IG Memon emphasized the importance of timely resolution of complaints, instructing that measures be implemented to ensure the complaint cell operates more efficiently. Part of these measures includes the appointment of reputable officers at police stations, a move designed to improve oversight and accountability.
The discussion also covered the need to make the complaint cell paperless and more accessible to the public, focusing particularly on enhancing the handling of complaints related to women and children’s rights. Memon directed that the process should be simplified to ensure that complaints are not only thoroughly investigated but also that follow-up actions are tracked through compliance reports from the concerned officers.
This meeting is part of ongoing efforts by Sindh Police to reform and improve the mechanisms through which citizens can report issues, aiming to foster a more transparent, accountable, and community-focused police service.
