IG Sindh Emphasizes Security Reviews for Chinese Nationals.

Karachi: For the protection of Chinese nationals in Sindh province, host and private security companies should be restricted to appoint former law enforcement officers, while various measures are being taken to ensure foolproof and extraordinary security of Chinese citizens. A full security audit should also be conducted of the private security guards assigned to protect the Chinese nationals in the Chinese national project premises at all levels. Such a decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon regarding security arrangements for Chinese citizens at the Central Police Office. In the meeting, Additional IGs Karachi, Operations, DIGs, Special Branch, SPUs, Headquarters attended. Establishment Sindh, while other concerned SSPs including Zonal and Divisional DIGs participated through video link.

According to Sindh Police, in the meeting, Additional IG Karachi, Operations, DIGs, SPUs, and Special Branch gave a detailed briefing about the strategy and plan of action adopted so far for the security of Chinese citizens. IG Sindh emphasized that with the movement of Chinese citizens, security clearance should be prioritized at residential places and various projects. Special attention should be paid to all the necessary measures, and a zero-tolerance policy should be implemented for the protection of Chinese nationals.

He stated that hosts and sponsors of Chinese nationals, as well as project owners, should be regularly informed about the services of former law enforcement officers. Additionally, they should be informed about how to avoid unnecessary movement and meetings involving Chinese nationals working on the projects.

IG Sindh also mentioned that the Special Branch and SPU should ensure the implementation of the SOP made by the Government of Pakistan. It is essential for the in-charges of all districts and units, including the SPU, to make their staff follow the SOP. He stressed that action should be taken against those found guilty of any negligence in the security SOP and all related matters.
