IG Sindh Directs Enhanced Security Measures for Polio Drops Campaign in Karachi

Karachi, In light of the ongoing polio drops campaign, IG Sindh has issued comprehensive security instructions to ensure the safety of the teams involved in the initiative. The directives emphasize the importance of robust security arrangements at the police station level across potentially sensitive union councils in the city.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, IG Sindh has mandated the provision of security for polio teams through inner and outer cordons, particularly in sensitive areas. The deployment of police, commandos, and plainclothes personnel has been instructed to maintain vigilance against suspicious activities. IG Sindh Rifat Mukhtar Raja has emphasized the need for random snap checking, picketing, and patrolling to monitor and counter any dubious activities that might disrupt the campaign.

The security plan also includes a mechanism for continuous communication and information sharing at all levels to ensure a solid security framework for the polio drops campaign areas. District SSPs have been tasked with monitoring the security measures closely, and the directives require the concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) to be present in their areas to oversee the execution of these measures.

These instructions reflect the Sindh government’s commitment to the successful and safe execution of the polio vaccination campaign, which is crucial for eradicating the disease and protecting public health.
