Karachi, In a significant move to bolster law and order in the province, IG Sindh Rafat Mukhtar Raja chaired a high-level online/video link meeting where various crucial agendas concerning police actions and crime prevention measures were discussed and reviewed.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, the meeting led by IG Sindh Rafat Mukhtar Raja focused on five key agendas including the provincial law and order situation, police actions against different types of crimes, the implementation of a smart verification alert system, surprise inspections of police stations, and measures against aerial firing and police involvement in organized crime.
IG Raja emphasized the importance of activating the smart verification alert system to prevent smuggling and illegal arms. He urged for consistency and efficiency in all related matters. He also directed district SSPs to instruct their respective SDPOs/DSPs to conduct surprise inspections at police stations, prepare regular reports, and ensure follow-up.
A significant point of discussion was the prevention of incidents like aerial firing during weddings and other ceremonies. IG Raja highlighted the need to involve local dignitaries and well-known personalities in a campaign against aerial firing, suggesting announcements and publications in mosques.
The meeting also addressed the necessity of coordinated police measures such as picketing, raids, and vigilant surveillance to curb crime and strengthen law enforcement’s grip on criminal elements and gangs. IG Raja delivered strict instructions that police personnel involved in organized crime should not be pardoned but instead face rigorous departmental and legal action based on concrete evidence.
The meeting saw the participation of all DIGs and District SSPs, marking a comprehensive approach to addressing the challenges of law and order in the region.
